Services and prices

We check the $20 part before quoting the $10,000 box.

Here is everything we work on, what we look at first, and the range most jobs land in. Your real price comes after a tech has seen the system, and nothing gets fixed until you say yes.

AC repair

$150 to $650

Typical range

Warm air from the vents, a unit that hums but won't start, ice on the line, water where it shouldn't be. Most AC calls get a tech the same day.

A lot of systems that look finished have one small failed part. That's where we start, and we show you the part when we pull it.

What we check first

  • Capacitor and contactor
  • Thermostat and breaker
  • Clogged drain line
  • Dirty coil or filter

Heating repair

$180 to $700

Typical range

Furnaces, heat pumps, and the 6 a.m. "it's ice cold in here" call. We've heard every noise a furnace can make and most of the smells.

If we find a cracked heat exchanger or anything else that's unsafe to run, we'll show you the photo and tell you plainly. That's the one time we'll say "don't turn it back on."

What we check first

  • Igniter and flame sensor
  • Filter and airflow
  • Thermostat wiring
  • Blower motor capacitor

New systems

$5,500 to $14,000

Typical range

Sometimes the system really is done. When it is, we measure the house and size the equipment to it. An oversized unit costs more and cools worse.

The quote is free, in writing, and good for 30 days. Take it home and get a second opinion. Already holding a replacement quote from someone else? We'll come take a second look at your old system for free. Financing is available.

What we check first

  • Whether a repair would do
  • Room-by-room sizing
  • Ductwork leaks
  • Rebates you qualify for

Tune-ups

$89

Typical range

About an hour, twice a year: once before cooling season and once before heating season. We clean the coils, test the electrical parts, check the refrigerant, and clear the drain line.

If something is wearing out, you get a photo and a price, and you decide later. Nobody decides anything on the spot. Comfort Club members get both tune-ups included.

What we check first

  • Capacitor readings
  • Refrigerant pressure
  • Coils and drain line
  • Burners and heat exchanger

Air quality

Quoted on site

Typical range

For the family member who's always sneezing in the den. Better filtration, humidity that's too high in July or too low in January, and ducts that leak dusty attic air into the house.

We'll tell you what a better filter alone would fix before we talk about equipment.

What we check first

  • Filter size and rating
  • Humidity readings
  • Duct leaks
  • Bath and kitchen venting

How a visit goes

Same five steps, every house.

  1. 1

    You call or book

Someone from the shop answers. You pick a two-hour window.

  2. 2

    We show up in it

If we're running late, we call you. You shouldn't have to chase us.

  3. 3

We find it and show you

Cheap parts first. You see the part, a photo, and the price.

  4. 4

    You say yes or no

Nothing gets touched until you approve it. "Let me think" is a fine answer.

  5. 5

    We put it in writing

The next morning you get an email with what we did. Labor is guaranteed for a year.

No heat, no AC, no waiting on hold.

365 days a year. A Sturdy answers the after-hours line.
